Gaming Giants Ubisoft Becomes A Part Of Blockchain Gaming Alliance

Gaming giants Ubisoft recently joined Blockchain Game Alliance, which indicates a fruitful partnership and eventually a stronger future for both the technologies.

The Blockchain Game Alliance, a group whose establishment was announced at the Blockchain Game Summit, held in France consists of Etherium development studio ConsenSys, independent game publisher Fig, blockchain game distribution platform Ultra, eSports betting platform Gimli amongst others. The CEO of Ultra, Nicolas Gilot, spoke about the purpose of this Alliance-

“The Blockchain Game Alliance is advocating for a universal standard in the blockchain gaming space to create a more interoperable and transparent ecosystem, which will benefit stakeholders, by furthering innovation and ensuring economic viability.”

It is believed by the entire consortium that this association of Ubisoft with the Blockchain Game Alliance will be mutually beneficial. Many believe that the blockchain technology can revolutionise the video gaming industry while having a backing from an industry mammoth like Ubisoft can draw greater interest on video games based on blockchain technology, which already is emerging at a fast pace.

Ubisoft, responsible for the creation of famous titles like Far Cry series, Tom Clancy games, Assassins Creed and Rayman, and its Strategic Innovation lab had been concerned about the emergence of blockchain technologies over quite some time now. The Director of Insights and Trends of the lab, Lidwine Sauer said that with the blockchain technology, players could now own their digital collectables which would also have a real tangible value. Sauer said,

“It’s one of the use cases of the blockchain, and we want to go further than that… We feel there’s something even more interesting to find [through the blockchain], and we’re in the process of trying to find that interesting thing.”

Video games and blockchain have been dubbed by many as the perfect match as both of these tremendously fast-growing industries, together want blockchain as the next step of development for the globally accepted entertainment medium of video games.
