Denmark Joins EU Blockchain Partnership

According to a report by Danish local news outlet Finans Watch, Denmark is the latest among European Union nations to become a full time supporter of the EU blockchain partnership.

A declaration has been signed by Denmark that brings it into a long list of 24 countries that support pan-EU blockchain standards and solutions.

As part of the European Commission’s Digital Day on April 10, the partnership was devised with the intention to enhance cooperation when it comes to developing blockchain tech among member states.

The government’s “outside the box” Disruption Council is also exploring blockchain use for the business sector.

The Danish Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, Brian Mikkelsen said Denmark would be “the first country in the world [to] use blockchain technology to register ships in the Danish ship registers.”

“Blockchain goes across borders, and a joint European cooperation is crucial to ensure future-proof standards and solutions. So I’m very pleased that we have now signed this declaration.”

A subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Ports also announced that they’d be employing blockchain solution to improve efficiency in their shipping and logistics industry on June 4.
