Musk Impressed by Ethereum Scambots

Elon Musk shares his views on Twitter on the cryptocurrency scam epidemic that everyone is talking about.

The Tesla CEO, engineer, billionaire entrepreneur, and worldwide phenomenon, Elon Musk, professed to be impressed by the operators behind the scambots. These scam bots came to light recently when they started impersonating popular people on Twitter for the sole objective of stealing Ethereum (ETH) in addition to other cryptocurrencies to the people who fell prey to these tactics.

This cryptocurrency epidemic has now spread all over Twitter and has been doing the rounds for months. The situation has now spread like wildfire and has gotten so out of hand that even Musk is talking about the entire controversy now! However, Musk being Musk is not criticizing and bashing this entire scenario. He hinted at being impressed by the people who were running these scam bots and associated their skills with being “mad skillz.” The funny thing is that he also misspelled Ethereum in his Twitter post!

His exact tweet on July 9th, 12:24 AM was, “I want to know who is running the Etherium scambots! Mad skillz

The co-founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin took notice of Musk’s comment on Ethereum and professed his disappointment that people were actually talking about Ethereum due to this scam epidemic instead of the technology that ruled it. He also took to Twitter in reply to Musk’s tweet, “I do wish @elonmusk‘s first tweet about Ethereum was about the tech rather than the twitter scambots……..@jack help us, please? Or someone from the ETH community makes a layer 2 scam filtering solution, please?

Musk is no stranger to releasing controversial statements on social media. In February this year, Musk also tweeted that he “literally own[ed] zero cryptocurrencies” in an attempt to warn all his followers not to follow the fake “Musk” profile on social media sites.

However, this latest tweet has turned him into a frequent target of these crypto scam bots too.
