HTC Launches Their New Blockchain Smartphone In The Market

HTC, the Taiwanese electronics company, has announced via Twitter, the commencement of presale of its eagerly anticipated blockchain smartphone, Exodus 1.

The pre-orders for Exodus 1 are quoted at around $960 (0.15 BTC or 4.78 ETH) and the shipping date will be sometime around December 2018.

At the Web3 summit, which took place in Berlin from the 22nd to 24th of October, HTC officially announced the presale of the Exodus 1. Acording to the Twitter announcement, the company has expressed that it is looking to partner with “a community of developers and enthusiasts […] to keep building security.”

The HTC Exodus website states that “early access” to the phone is only available for those who have the luxury of paying via Bitcoin (BTC) or Ethereum (ETH). This option is currently being offered in 34 regions.

The speculation regarding this product began back in May 2018 when HTC first announced its plan to launch a blockchain-powered smartphone. The smartphone claims to support multiple blockchain protocols like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Lightning Network (LN), and Dfinity network. It also possesses a universal crypto wallet.

However, according to The Verge, a popular US Tech Journal, the model that is currently available for pre-order only offers a secure crypto wallet “protected from the Android OS,” but lacks the other features that were promised.
